SO I decided to try the mask sig again, only this time without negative-ness.

I see you used lines, me gusta haha
cropping around the thumb is a bit sketchy bit not bad overall
brighten it up a little, unless you are going for a darkish mood for it :
Blend the background in with the picture a little moarrr

Lol, I don't use lines much, not really my thing normally.
I see that now that you mention it
I was trying to keep it dark, but I think I'll add in a light source to make it a little more shadowed.
Like a little fog?

I dont think a LIGHT fog would hurt

Use smudges using different opacities and blending options *photoshop speak*

God dang yer ps speak! I gots no blending options! But I'll try the smudging. ..

I have PS but I don't even use blending options. (Self-taught, so I don't even know what they are. Shhh!) Smudging works pretty well.

Looks a little bit "vague" or "simple" to be honest, the background could use some more details...Good work overall.
